Cool-Toned Part-Shade Garden Border

Late summer in the garden usually means shades of yellow, orange and burgundy. But why not plant surprisingly vibrant violets, beautiful blues and pastel pinks? That’s what you’ll get in this cool-toned late-summer garden. 

This planting has been designed for part shade. Full morning sun would be fine, as long as there’s shade all afternoon. Or plant it in a north-facing bed with a hedge or fence behind it. These perennials need moist soil to help them look and bloom their best. 

Even though this design is for an area about 18 ft. long and 8 ft. deep, you can enlarge it by adding more of your favorite plants or just repeat the plan along the length of a border!

The plants in this plan are hardy in cold zones range 4 to 9.
